In a culture filled with inequalities, it is easy to mistake people for the identities they hold. In my experience advocating for the rights and dignity of those who hold marginalized identities, I sometimes find myself resenting or overlooking the full humanity of those who belong to the privileged identity. This week I will share some reflections on how my summer experience as a hospital chaplain has helped me confront this tendency in myself and helped me more fully recognize the worth and dignity of every person.
Caleigh is a third year Masters of Divinity student at Harvard Divinity School. She has had the pleasure of serving as First Parish’s Field Ed student and looks forward to continuing to teach RE and supporting children and families ministries as she finishes her degree program.
