“Try not to try,” Zen Buddhism advises its practitioners. When that does not work, Zen suggests: “Quit trying not to try.” When all else fails: “Quit quitting.” But what about being in control of one’s life — “the master of my fate; the captain of my soul”? This service will explore the tension between quitting and controlling and describe the spiritual experience.
