Artist in Residence Program
Concert: Sunday, November 24 at 7:30 pm
First Parish is so pleased to welcome Vivian Montgomery as our inaugural artist-in-residence! The goal of the artist-in-residence program is to highlight the artistry, teachings, and community partnerships of local artists whose work extends beyond performance and aligns with the mission and values of First Parish. Vivian's commitment to making Eudaimonia a purposeful period band is evident in both her innovative, expansive programming as well as the intention with which she engages local social action partners, connecting period music to stories that resonate today. We are so honored to help celebrate and elevate this meaningful work and offer Eudaimonia a home in Harvard Square for their next two seasons. congregation following Tuesday's election:
Dear First Parish,
I know that many of us are deeply disappointed by the outcome of yesterday’s election. Today I’ve been hearing from folks who are feeling sad, afraid, angry, vulnerable and uncertain of the future. I’ve also been hearing from folks who are feeling grounded, purposeful, and grateful to be part of a spiritual community where we support one another and stand together for our shared values.
We’ve been saying all year that we don’t know what 2024 will bring, but that the one thing we do know for certain is that we will need one another. And one
thing we can count is that we will be here for one another.
We’ll gather together for worship on Sunday at 10:30 am. Sophia Doescher and I will be present to lead us in worship, along with Linda Brown San Martin and the First Parish Gospel Choir. After service we will gather over bowls of warm, nourishing soup to connect with one another some. For those who desire it, there will be opportunities on Sunday for some structured check-ins over lunch. We hope you’ll join us.
