Congregational Business Meeting
At its annual business meeting each June, the congregation elects members of its governing board, approves the following year’s budget, hears reports and considers other business.

The congregation delegates authority to manage the work and resources of First Parish to its governing board except for those actions it expressly reserves to itself. Seven elected board members are joined by its past chair, the Lead Minister and the Director of Administration in planning, allocating resources, evaluating, and writing policy that guides decision making.

The board meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 7PM and all members of the congregation are welcome to attend these meetings.

Board Policy Book

Board Advisory Committees and Expert Advisors

The Finance Committee assists the board and staff on financial planning for the long term financial health of the congregation.

The Governance Committee advises the board on bylaw and governing policies issues and assists it with educating the leadership, staff, and congregation about First Parish governance.

The Investment Committee directs the investment of the First Parish endowment, subject to board policies.

The Legal Advisor assists the board in understanding legal requirements and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

The Personnel Advisor assists the board in developing personnel policies and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
